WHAT IS CLOGGING?

Updated: Dec 21, 2022

Clogging is an energetic and percussive dance form that originated in the Appalachian mountains of the United States. It has its roots in the European dances that were brought over to the United States by European settlers in the mid 1700s. Over time, the influence of Tap dancing and Canadian step dancing also shaped the modern clogging that we see today.

Clogging was brought to Australia in the 1980s and there are now clogging communities in all states and territories. It is a danceform where you can find an 8 year old and an 80 year old on the dancefloor at the same time. We dance to a wide range of music from Pop, Country, Hip Hop, Bluegrass, Latin and everything in between.
